Don't forget that Akari (Watanabe) does not actually have a bunch of experience with lots of different guys (unlike what Jiro seemed to initially assume) so she is also far more sensitive to the thought of the idea that someone she has strong feelings for choosing to be and/or ending up in a permanent-relationship with another girl rather than with her (even more difficult when one cannot be honest with their feelings, for whatever reason, whether that reason is to maintain a social-image or due to trauma from parents or otherwise, fear of embarrassment/rejection, etc., the intensity just multiplies to the point where simply thinking of the scenario of having lost before even having loved can activate tears like a light-switch, something that is often not considered and/or forgotten by those who say things like : «It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.»).

To me it looked like the gym storage room scene reminded her of her strong feelings towards Minami but also broke her heart shortly after, realizing Minami will continue his current fake marriage with Shiori. So Akari bottled up all those emotions inside until she let it out during her conversation with Jiro.

Akari is not like Chitoge. Took Chitoge high amounts of actual tsundere abuse towards the MC before she developed her character. Akari is more straightforward.

Highly recommend the manga. It's like barely 100 chapters and unless you're illiterate, you can read that within a week in your bathroom breaks.

Wrong. Shiori knows what she wants, but she doesn't have the gut to say it. Even on the day MC almost confessed to her, she was waiting for him to confess to her. But... MC caused the entire situation entering friend-zone mode forever after not having the courage to confess to her.

Shiori is the type of girl waiting for u to confess to her because she doesn't have the courage to do it. She wants, but she's afraid of asking MC for that now after being friend-zoned.

While, MC... yea he f*&ked up a big one... a real big one.

Romance Lesson to younglings: If you are truly in love with someone, do not hesitate. Just be brave and confess to them. You might be worrying that if it failed, it probably wouldn't be friend-zone, but stranger-zone. But, no risk no gain. Good luck.
